Role Description

Support Engineers (SE) serve as frontline technical resources for Microsoft customers and partners via phone, email, or the web. They deliver unique value by collaboratively and reactively solving customer problems, providing proactive support advice, contributing to product quality and enhancements, and creating self-help assets to broadly reach more customers. You will be part of a team responsible for providing outstanding technical support to our business customers. From problem identification to full resolution, you will own and manage the customer experience over the phone and Web. When needed, you will collaborate with others to engage subject matter experts, Engineering (Product Groups), or Management. Your day-to-day job will be about providing both technical expertise (either on your own or by involving your colleagues) and being an excellent communicator and a service-oriented professional. You will be given the opportunity to become a subject matter expert in one or more areas and receive guidance and mentorship from your colleagues.

Required Skills

  • English Language: confident in reading, writing, and speaking.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Power BI (Desktop application, service, and Gateway) or any other similar BI tool such as Tableau, SAS, Qlik, Sisense, Oracle Analytics Cloud, MicroStrategy, or Microsoft Excel would be beneficial; alternatively, a strong interest in developing your knowledge of BI solutions would be beneficial.
  • Good understanding of SQL Server Analysis Services concepts, MDX, DAX, and SQL Server Reporting Services
  • Underlying awareness of SQL Server or any other Database Management system like Oracle or SAP
  • Thorough troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic network troubleshooting skills
  • Communication and senior stakeholder engagement skills are underpinned by an ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical, senior business users with ease.
  • Enjoy operating at your own pace and as part of a highly collaborative team.
  • Team-wide shift rotations to cover business needs, including 24×7 “on-call” responsibilities.

Qualifications & Certificates

  • Knowledge of IIS configuration and how HTTP requests are handled by IIS
  • Knowledge of either the.NET Framework or how to develop ASP.NET applications using C# and VB
  • The ability to troubleshoot complex web application issues in an often-ambiguous environment.
  • Knowledge of HTML and CSS.
  • Understanding of programming concepts such as call stacks, threading, synchronization, performance-related concepts, and debugging.
  • Familiarity with Azure services and offerings is a plus.
  • Ability to thrive in a strong team environment focused on providing a consistently high level of customer service in a challenging environment.
  • The English language is essential, both spoken and written.

OR

 

  • Experience with writing software in one or more open-source programming languages such as Java, Python, Node.js, PHP, etc.
  • Familiarity with open-source web servers (Apache, NGINX, Tomcat, Jetty, etc.)
  • Experience in one of the following (MySQL, MariaDB, MS SQL, PostgreSQL, etc.)
  • Familiarity with source control systems such as git and source control servers (GitHub, Bitbucket, etc.)

 

“Nice to have” skills:

    • Familiarity with basic DevOps concepts, continuous delivery, and solution integrations.
    • Familiarity with containerized web applications and Docker.
    • Familiarity with WordPress or other CMSs
